From the first line to a finished study

Build the house

Find the horizon and use perspective to place the roof, walls, and verandah.

Find the light

Separate light and shadow, then use pencil values to give the drawing depth.

Make it your own

Add a few expressive details and ask questions about your next steps.

Bring simple materials

  • Plain drawing paper or a sketchbook
  • HB and 2B pencils, an eraser, and a sharpener
  • A ruler for construction lines
  • A device with an internet connection for the live class

A reference image and joining instructions will be provided to confirmed participants.

Your time in the studio

10 minutes to observe the house, 25 minutes to build its structure, 25 minutes for light and shadow, 15 minutes for details, and 15 minutes for questions.

Each student will work toward a pencil study and a clearer understanding of how perspective works.

Do I need drawing experience?

No. The workshop begins with simple shapes and construction lines. The free perspective lesson is a helpful introduction.

Does the price include materials?

No. The $29 price is for live instruction. Use the simple materials listed above.

Is a recording included?

A recording is not currently promised. Plan to attend the live session; final booking details will explain any replay availability.
